Show 20 – Live From Q In the Lou

Tune in live September 24th from 1 – 2pm on 590 The Fan, listen on-line, or download the app.

I love BBQ!  One of the ways I love to enjoy it is at BBQ festivals.  The smell is in the air, the people are great, and you get to try so many different flavors and styles.  All of that and more is happening all weekend at Q In The Lou in the Soldier’s Memorial area of Downtown St. Louis and this week I’ll broadcast the show live on site.  I’ll also be serving as a pit captain all weekend for The Salt Lick BBQ crew out of Texas.  They are a great, fun group from a historic restaurant that has been around for over 65 years and their brisket is amazing!  The pit captains run the front of house operations of the booth and act kind of like the GM for the weekend.  I expect to work some long, hard hours but have a lot of fun and maybe even learn a little something about BBQ from some of the pros.  The event runs Friday from 4 – 10pm, Saturday from 11am – 10pm, and Sunday from 11am – 6pm.  There is live music from national and local bands, cooking demos, master classes, and literally tons of great BBQ from 9 of the world’s top pit masters.  Come on out for the action and say hello.

Show 18 – Mike Kociela – Taste Of St. Louis

Tune in live September 10th from 1 – 2pm on 590 The Fan, listen on-line, or download the app.

The Budweiser Taste Of St. Louis is September 16th – 18th at Chesterfield Amphitheater.  It’s the premiere food, music, and art festival in the area and this week Mike Kociela CEO of Entertainment St. Louis which produces the event joins me to talk all about this year’s festivities.  We’ll not only talk all about the food, chef competitions, demos, and music, but also what goes in to producing this and other big events.  Mike is from St. Louis and has a long history of not only producing events but as a touring musician with the band New World Spirits.  He love music, loves his city, and was instrumental in the effort to build the National Blues Museum in Downtown St. Louis.  I met Mike almost 20 years ago when he was slapping the bass and I was helping promote the band at KSHE 95 and eventually we would work together on his event promotions.  I’m excited to visit with him and talk about his journey from rock start to event producing and marketing guru.
